At SPIE Photonics West in SanFrancisco Intex launched the first Surface Mount broadband infrared emitters. Surface mounting helps reduce cost by streamlining PCB assembly and lower cost packaging of the MEMS Emitter devices. Surface mount packaging of the emitters also enables smaller sensor systems. Operating over the range of 1 to 20 microns wavelength surface mounted blackbody infrared emitters can easily be mounted in arrays for construction of infrared marker beacons and other pixel based scene generation in the mid to far infrared wavelengths.
