The MIRL 17-900 reflector ZnSe window is a tough material that has low absorption properties, which helps avoid thermal runaway. The low transmittance allows the window to operate effectively up to 22μm. The material is unaffected by moisture.

With a parabolic reflecting optical element, the on-axis output of the MIRL 17-900 pulsed infrared light source is increased by 10x – 12x at distances in the range 20mm to 100mm.
